Mark your calendars! On Wednesday November 19th the 9th Annual 1×1 Art Gala will take place at D.B. Searles, 2nd Floor. Save the date if you enjoy amazing artwork, silent auctions, live music and prizes. During the evening you will have the opportunity to bid on all artwork, vote on your favorite pieces, enjoy apps, beverages and live music, and hopefully take a treasure home with you at the end of the evening. Bidding will open at 5:30 and close at 7:30, but the music and fun will continue until 8:30/9.
Prior to the gala we’d like to invite all local artists, graphic designers, crafty folk and students to participate and showcase their talents by buying the 1′ x 1′ material ($10). The only rule is that the official 1′ x 1′ material must be incorporated into the artwork. 1×1 boards are now available. You can purchase them at Leighton Interactive or DAYTA Marketing for $10 (check or cash only). All completed pieces are due by Monday, 11/17. Boards are limited; reserve yours today by emailing Simone, firstname.lastname@example.org.

The Cause: All silent auction proceeds will go to support SCSU’s National Student Advertising Competition (NSAC) Team. NSAC is an annual competition hosted by the American Advertising Federation. Every year, a corporate sponsor, this year Pizza Hut, provides a case study outlining the company history and their current advertising situation. Students take this information and create a fully integrated marketing/communications campaign and pitch it to a panel of judges. The money raised at the 1×1 Art Gala helps with the students entry fees, lodging, food and transportation. It is a great opportunity for students to get hands-on experience in their field of choice!

To participate as an artist and pick up your 1×1, here’s what you need to know:
- Boards are limited this year, so pick yours up early!
- Completed boards must be turned in by Monday, November 19th
- Drop off at Leighton Interactive or DAYTA Marketing by 5:00 pm
- Members: $5/board
- Non-members: $10/board
- Boards must be paid for upon pick-up; cash or check only, please.
- Submitting your art will gain you free entry into the event!
