Shifting the perception of female leaders in the workplace is a marathon, not a sprint. Get in the race now by joining a positive and empowering conversation on May 4 with AAFCM as we host our sixth annual panel discussion with a diverse group of Central Minnesota businesswomen and leaders.

It should go without saying that this is not about waging war against men. It’s about amplifying incredible female talent. It’s about understanding that we’re all in this together. From corporate America to small business ownership, we’ll cover what it takes to knock down both real and perceived walls women face at work, online, and beyond. This is one event you don’t want to miss!

MEET OUR PANELISTS:

Alise Sjostrom

President + CEO of Redhead Creamery

Alise Sjostrom and her team at Redhead Creamery make award-winning cheese at Jer-Lindy Farms, LLC. The nine-year-old business has been created through guidance from her parents, Jerry and Linda, schooling at the University of Minnesota and Vermont Institute for Artisan Cheese, as well as lessons from many people in the cheese and dairy industry along the way. Redhead Creamery is also beginning whey based spirits (Araga) from the cheesemaking process, which is a project of her husband, Lucas, the fourth partner in the farm businesses. The venture includes a larger tasting room, expanded kitchen and opportunities to expand their offerings. Alise and Lucas have three children and live in the same farmhouse where she was raised, north of Brooten, Minn.

Joyce Brenny

President + CEO of Brenny Transportation

Driving a semi-truck is how Joyce began her career in trucking. After her daughter was born, she moved into customer service, sales and eventually management in the trucking industry. After having enough of trucking good ole boys’ style, in 1996 Joyce founded Brenny Transportation, a Women Business Enterprise, located in Joyce’s hometown of St. Joseph, Minn.

Joyce has held numerous leadership positions in the transportation industry, some of which include:

  • The Minnesota Trucking Association Board of Directors. Joyce was the first woman trucker to chair the organization.
  • The American Trucking Association, Safety Policy Committee.
  • Joyce is the current president of The St. Christopher’s Trucker Relief & Development Fund.
  • Brenny Transportation has also been named a Women In Trucking, Top Place for Women to Work, a Truckload Carrier’s Top Fleet to Drive for, and Joyce was named Most Influential Woman in Trucking, by the Women in Trucking Association.
  • Most recently, Joyce was nominated to a position on the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Policy Committee, Women of Trucking Advisory Board.

Joyce’s educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in organizational behavior, as well as behavior psychology, from the College of St. Scholastica.

Joyce has made it her personal mission to provide a safe and engaged work environment in the transportation industry for women, as well as speak for the rights and respect of “professional” truck drivers! Joyce truly believes it is her purpose to improve the trucking industry for those who have dedicated their life to serve in the essential profession of trucking/transportation.

Antoinette Lee

CEO + Founder of No Limit Painting

Antionette Lee is a bright and vibrant young lady, and her personality fills the room whenever she is present. She was born and raised in Chicago and attended Carver Military Academy. Once Mrs. Lee graduated high school, she moved to Saint Cloud in 2002. She made St. Cloud her home where she started her family and met her husband, spending the majority of her life working as a certified nursing assistant where she encountered a back injury that caused her to be out of work. She then found painting as a positive outlet.

It all started as a hobby until she began to display her artwork on social media websites where people begin to take an interest in her artwork. Still thinking nothing of it, being modest, humble, and appreciative of the compliments lifting her spirits, she began to rehabilitate herself and went back to work as a paraprofessional/teachers’ assistant working with special education students in District 742.

Antionette began to rebuild and reclaim her identity by becoming a pillar in her community by attending community meetings, Hireworks Collaborative program, herARTS in action, Jugaad Leadership program, and also recently graduating from Enterprise Academy through the Initiative Foundation where she has learned the basics of becoming an entrepreneur and started her own business.

Antionette is the president and founder of a nonprofit by the name of No Limit Painting. She has been hosting events for both the public and different organizations throughout Saint Cloud, teaching others how to embrace their inner creativity while painting without limits. She is now providing a positive outlet through painting for the entire community. Her art has been displayed throughout the community at several locations, and she aspires to be the first woman of color to open her own art studio in St. Cloud.
