Nonprofit Application

12 Hour Student Design Challenge Call For NonprofitsWho qualifies?

Organizations must be registered as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization. AAF Central Minnesota supports organizations that are making a positive impact in central Minnesota!

How can my organization apply?

To be considered for this opportunity, please complete the short application form below. One nonprofit will be selected for this year’s challenge. Once the organization has been selected, all applicants will be notified of the decision via email. If selected, your organization will receive additional details and the dedicated support of AAF Central Minnesota.

When is the deadline?

The deadline to apply is 5:00PM on Friday, February 21nd, 2020.

How does the contest work?

Prior to the event, design, marketing and communication students from local colleges will form teams of four for a total number of nine teams. On the day of the event, after a brief presentation by representatives from the nonprofit, teams will have limited time to research, strategize, concept and design a solution for the nonprofit organization. Teams will then present their concept to a panel of judges and the team with the best concept and execution – via materials such as logo, business card, website design, etc. – will win!

If selected, what would my organization receive?

The benefits of participating in AAFCM’s Student Design Challenge include:

  • Working with young, talented individuals who are motivated to do their best work on behalf of your organization
  • Being provided with marketing deliverables to fit the needs of your organization (examples include business card, letterhead, envelope, label, nametag, folder, brochure, website homepage, fact sheet template, etc.)
  • Lots of fun!

If selected, what are the expectations of my organization?

If selected, a member of our organization will be able to attend the event at Alexandria Technical and Community College on March 28th from 9:00AM to 9:00 PM.

Before the event: Your organization will be expected to provide the necessary information and parameters for student participants of the event; this includes a clearly stated marketing challenge. Two weeks prior to the event, one or two representatives from your organization must be available for discussions with AAFCM representatives to summarize your organization’s exact marketing challenge that will then be translated into a creative brief for the challenge.

At the event: A delegate from your organization will also be asked to give a brief presentation the morning of the event and serve as a judge the night of the event. The morning delegate does not need to be the same person who serves that night as a judge.
