Type. It is probably the most essential and yet most difficult component in great graphic design. But can any other element bring as much to our work? It supports concepts, delights the eye and carries messages. And it is a constant challenge to wrestle into submission. Jo will present her ideas regarding what works, what engages and what is just plain beautiful in the world of type.With more than 20 years as a graphic designer, Jo Davison is Vice President, Creative, at Larsen Design, Minneapolis. Driven by the belief that smart design differentiates products, services and experiences, Jo creates distinctive business advantages through original design that is both solid and surprising. Her clients include 3M, U.S. Bancorp, Piper Jaffray, Cargill, Deluxe Corporation and General Mills among others.

Noted for her high regard for collaborative, intelligent design, Jo has served the local and national design community in a number of roles, including president of the Minnesota Chapter of the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA) and currently as a faculty member of the College of Visual Arts, St. Paul. She has taught Advanced Typography for numerous years at CVA.

Awards include Communication Arts, Graphis,The Type Directors Club, AIGA, Print and AdFed. Affiliations include Association of Professional Design Firms Board Member, University of Wisconsin Stout Art and Design Professional Advisory Board Member, AIGA National Medalist Committee, AIGA National Board Nominating and National Liaison commttees.
